What is the Day of Caring?
The United Way Day of Caring shows the people of Lebanon
County first-hand the important programs of our not-for-profit
agencies through volunteer work projects. The Day of Caring
is a visible expression of our work to build a caring community.
Day of Caring also tells us that financial contributions
alone are not the only answer to community needs.
Positive aspects of this event:
-Provides county-wide exposure for all participating not-for-profit
agencies in Lebanon County, as well as United Way.
- Accomplishes significant, needed tasks for agencies and
facilities
- Provides hands-on volunteer opportunities, both physical
and non-physical tasks.
- Provides a volunteer opportunity for non-profits.
Volunteer teams will receive a list of all projects and
pick three choices for assignment. All volunteer team placements
will be made at the United Way office. Volunteer groups
are not to make separate arrangements with an agency for
the Day of Caring. Direct any inquiries to the United Way
office.
Volunteer teams and agencies will be informed of their
assignments by early April. Agencies may then contact the
volunteers to work out the final details of their work project.
All projects will be conducted on the Day of Caring, Saturday,
April 18, 2009.
On the Day of Caring: All volunteers and agency staff members
are invited to a kick off breakfast from 7:30-8:30 a.m.
before the work project. Day of Caring T-shirts will be
distributed at the breakfast. All participants are encouraged
to wear them. Volunteers should arrive at their assignment
by 9:00 a.m. A short orientation about the agency and its
programs will be presented. Work projects will begin at
9:15 a.m. and end at 12 noon.
This year for Day of Caring
we are once again conducting a
Personal Care Item Drive.
We are asking each participant to bring
an item to the
Kick Off Breakfast.
Your company/organization may want to run
its own internal drive and bring the items to Day of Caring
or to the United Way office. This is another great way for
your employees and co-workers to support our community.
