For the 4th year in a row, Joe and Donna
White, owners of White's Harley-Davidson and Iron
Valley Harley-Davidson, have donated a Harley-Davidson
883 Sportster motorcycle to the United Way of Lebanon
County campaign. The motorcycle is the top campaign
incentive this year, encouraging people to give a
little more for a chance to win.
"We do a United Way campaign with
our employees each year, but this is our personal
gift to the campaign," says Donna White. Last
year, employees of White's and Iron Valley contributed
over $2,400 individually to the United Way of Lebanon
County. "We always contributed to the United
Way, but this is a way for us to give more and excite
others to give more, as well. United Way is an easy
way to give to many causes and touch many lives with
one gift. It just makes sense," says Joe White.
As owners of a homegrown Lebanon County
business started by Joe White's parents, the Whites
are committed to sharing the thrill of riding motorcycles
and their appreciation of the Lebanon community. As
White Says, "Lebanon is my hometown and it's
a small county, so we all have to work together. I
always say, as Lebanon goes, so goes my business.
It is the same with the United Way."
As far as the United Way is concerned,
this incentive is worth its weight in gold. "The
Harley-Davidson has generated so much enthusiasm.
It is kind of a fantasy gift; one that lots of people
dream of getting," says Emily Guilliams, Director
of Campaign and Communications for the United Way.
"I have seen many people increase their giving
to be sure they qualify for the drawing", says
Guilliams.
Two dollars a week qualifies the donor
for one chance, and three dollars a week qualifies
them for two chances for the motorcycle as well as
a "Luxury Weekend Escape Package", donated
by Hershey Entertainment & Resorts and a $5,000
Savings Bond, donated by Fulton Bank.
This is one of the many generous causes
that the White's support. In 2008 White's Harley-Davidson
dealership staff and customers raised over $94,000
for the MDA Ride for Life. These are the ways that
Joe and Donna White "Live United".
